The exact recipe is closely guarded but is based on the traditional Russian methods of vodka distillation, perfected to an art through decades of making Sputnik Vodka. The key stages of their methods that are essential for creating the quality you will find in our vodka: The highest quality winter grain is distilled and filtered through tons of birch charcoal, sourced from the Perm region of Russia, resulting in a superior de-luxe class spirit. This process is meticulously repeated three times to purify the spirit and achieve a smooth finish that is also low in methanol (less than 2 mg per litre). Methanol in the higher levels is unhealthy and commonly associated with hangovers. The natural spring water in Sputnik Vodka is refined through unique silver filters that deliver ultimate purity. The delicious grain flavour is intensified by the freshness that only natural, un-distilled water can offer. The water is the blended with the spirit (at 3 water molecules to 1) to meet the Russian vodka standard of 40% abv. Historically in Russia, vodkas with less than 40% ABV are considered sub-standard and regarded as pseudo-vodkas. Subtle hints of Acacia honey enhance the vodka's character and give Sputnik a smooth yet perfectly balanced taste.

This is a Port of only one harvest, produced in a year of good quality, red and full bodied, of good aroma and palate and which is recognized by the 'Instituto do Vinho do Porto' as having the right to use the description 'Late Bottled Vintage' or 'L.B.V.'. Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and Touriga Nacional predominate among the traditional grape varieties of the Demarcated Region of the Douro Valley. The wine is made 70% from grapes of Quinta do Noval, and 30% from 'A' quality grapes from our traditional suppliers, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Ageing: Four and a half years in old wooden vats, in the air-conditioned cellars of the Quinta in the Demarcated Region of the Douro Valley before bottling. The grapes were trodden by foot and fermented in the traditional lagares of the Quinta, where a disciplined and intense treading is fundamental for a good final result. Deep rich brick red colour, ripe vigorous and fruity nose. A vigorous mouthful of fresh red fruits, with a solid tannic structure and a long harmonious finish. Ideally to be served as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal. This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.
